An orthopedic surgeon will make several small incisions around the joint and insert an arthroscope, which is a small surgical tool equipped with a camera and light at the end. The camera relays images over a video screen in the surgical room, allowing the surgeon to get a better look at the inside of the joint and to work with greater precision.
