All investors should read the editorial by Denise Voigt Crawford, President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (“NASAA”), in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram.  Voigt Crawfor tells it like it is.  Powerful interests are lining up to block meaningful investor protection by watering down the standards to which stockbrokers have to adhere.  Most investors never knew that stockbrokers adamantly claim that they do not owe any duty to operate wholly in the investor’s best interests.  Instead, brokers have often been held to a much lower standard, allowing them to hide conflicts of interest, to earn secret compensation, and to sell customers high-commission products when lower cost options are available. Please read the editorial and push your Senators and Congressman to pass meaningful reform.  Whatever its lobbyists may say, the securities industry does not have your best interests at heart.
